Trend alert casual shirts - it’s casual all the way

When it comes to Men’s clothing, not many of us would know the history behind a simple casual shirt. What is interesting to note is that up until the middle ages, the shirt was commonly used as an under garment rather than an outer garment. Shirts are worn by men and women and they come in a variety of prints and patterns. The modern day man, seeks shirts with specific attributes such as collar, cuffs, design and fit. Shirts can either be designed with button closures or snaps.
There are different types of shirts that may be classified under the term ‘casual’. Some of them are Polo shirts, Button-up shirts, Henleys and T-shirts. Interestingly, the term T-shirt was given because of the distinctive T-shape extending to the arms and a straight fit that comes below. The versatility of casual shirts lets the modern man wear them for a range of occasions and are predominantly seen as off-duty wear.Polo shirts for instance, are also commonly called as Golf or tennis shirts and are designed with a prominent collar that is complemented with a placket which features two or more buttons for easy wearing. Polo T-shirts were famous amongst the tennis players and it wasn’t until the famous Rene Lacoste, a grand slam champion who designed a more convenient T-shirt with the crocodile emblem on the left, for easy playing and comfort. A slightly varied form of the Polo shirts are Henleys, that resemble the same design elements without the collar.
Turtleneck T-shirts which were ideally worn as a sweater, are a more casual variety and the collar is designed in such a way that it stays close to the neck and can be folded over. They are also designed with zipper closures and have their origins back from the 15th century. They were regarded as a substitute for a tie and were seen as a clothing item of rebellion in the yesteryears.Button-up shirts are closely similar to formal shirts except they are worn for casual Fridays and can be worn with a button open on the top. They are designed with long sleeves or short sleeves and are preferred by most individuals due to their soft quality and comfort factor.
A T-shirt may be printed or plain and is the most preferred choice by the urbane man for off-duty wear or during the weekends. They are a solid bet for the contemporary crowd and score high on comfort and style. T-shirts are made from a combination of cotton and lycra and they can also be worn under sweaters or hoodies.
Some of the popular brands that boast of a fine range of shirts and T-shirts are United Colors of Benetton, Van Heusen, Adidas, Puma, Lee, Levis and Duke. With Online shopping proving to be a reliable destination, customers can buy a range of casual shirts from the comfort of their homes.
