It’s compact, stylish and gives quality pictures

After the success of the LX3, the panasonic lumix LX5 that was launched in 2010 is a high-end, compact camera that is simple to handle, just point and shoot and you have your perfect shot. It has proven to be a great camera for professionals with its fast lens and manual shooting modes. The LX5 has a major edge over its predecessor because of the 3.8x, 24-90mm zoom lens, a large 1/1.63-inch with a 10 megapixel CCD sensor and the option of adjusting the shutter speed and the aperture for HD movie recording. Another improvement from the LX3 is the user interface, an OIS anti-shake system, optional electronic viewfinder and an Intelligent Resolution technology.
The thinking that went into the making of the LX5 was to make a professional Panasonic camera such as this as user friendly as possible enabling possibly everyone to take a professional picture. The metal construction of the LX5 proves that it is worth its quality and better than the 5 models before it.
The LX5 provides iAuto and a range of manual shoot modes, it also has the GF1 from the Panasonic G-series hybrids which gives you an accessory port for an optional Live view finder. The LCD screen itself is quite bright and has a dot resolution of 460k that gives you a more natural look of your surroundings therefore giving a better shot composition and review except maybe when it is too bright and sunny. The lens is optically stabilized to prevent any image blurring with a 3.8 zoom and a focal range that can reach a maximum of 90mm.
Easy to handle, it weighs a mere 271g inclusive of card and battery and it comes along with a number of buttons and dials that increase your curiosity, especially the button that releases the pop-up flash.
There is also a button that allows you to switch between auto focus, macro focus and manual focus. The exterior of the LX5 has a leather rubber padding that basically gives you a much stronger grip over the camera. It appears to be much more manageable when compared to its counterparts because of its compact and elegant solution, measuring 109.7×65.5x43mm. With an incredible hike of ISO80 to ISO 12800 which are manually selectable from the LX3 to the LX5 respectively, it has created amazing low lighting solutions and a better dynamic range.
Making your photography experience an even better one, the camera is more capable with the Q menu or the Quick Menu that is available on your backplate giving you various camera settings and shooting functions all accessible in one place.
Other necessary peripherals that are included are the HDMI and AV/USB out ports, a compartment at the bottom of the camera for the batter and any SD/SDHC/SDXC or eye-fi media cards as well as a centre screw head for the tripod to be attached.
With the compact nature of the camera and the professional features like the electric viewfinder, the auto focus and the amazingly high ISO range, this camera makes it a photographers dream, light enough to carry in your pocket as well as take quality pictures.
