The Nikon coolpix series of compact digital cameras come in many variants. It includes superzoom, bridge, travel-zoom, miniature compact and waterproof/rugged cameras. The company currently manufactures Nikon Coolpix cameras categorized into five different lines. They are – A series, All Weather (AW) series, Life (L) series, the Performance (P) series and the Style (S) series.
The Coolpix A Series is Nikon’s new flagship point and shoot camera. The Coolpix A comes with 16.2 MP camera with the DX-format CMOS sensor, 18.5mm lens and with Full HD video recording. It offers a photographic vision capable of DSLR quality photography.
The Coolpix Performance series or the P series includes models like Coolpix P600, Coolpix P520 and Coolpix P530. While the P600 offers a 60x zoom with its 16.1 MP lens, the P520 and P530 offer 42x zoom, with the former having an 18.1 MP lens and the latter having a 16.2 MP lens. The P600 and P530 have some cool features like the Bird-watching mode and Moon mode. The P520 comes with an ACTIVE mode, which will help reduce image blur when shooting from a moving vehicle or any other unstable position, stabilizing both captured and viewfinder images.
The Coolpix Style series or the S series includes models like Coolpix S9700, Coolpix S9500 and Coolpix S9600. The S9500 and S9600 offer 22x zoom with the former having 18.1 MP lens and the latter having a 16 MP lens. The S9700 comes with a 16MP nikon camera with 30x zoom and 60x Dynamic Fine zoom. The S9600 and S9700 feature high-speed battery charging with ability to shoot while charging.
The Coolpix Life series or the L series includes models lie Coolpix L830 and Coolpix L30. The L830 is the top model in the series with a 16 MP lens with 34x zoom and 68x Dynamic Fine Zoom and a full HD 1080/60i movie recording. The L30 comes with a 20.1 MP lens with 5x zoom and one-touch HD 720p movie recording and Glamour retouch.
The Coolpix All Weather series or the AW series has two models, namely the AW120 and AW110. Both feature a 16 MP lens with 5x zoom. While the AW120 supports world map with GPS and GLONASS and micro shooting, the AW110 comes with WiFi easy image transfer. Both the models are waterproof, shockproof and freezeproof.
